Basic Surgical Skills Workshop
The Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, in collaboration with Prof. Dr. I.G.N.G Ngoerah General Hospital, successfully conducted the Basic Surgical Skills Workshop. The workshop was held twice, on 25 October 2025 and 15 November 2025, at the Surgery Meeting Room of RSUP Prof. IGNG Ngoerah, and featured various speakers who are experts in their respective fields.
This event is part of a series of Continuing Medical Education (CME) activities aimed at updating and enhancing the competencies of medical professionals in the field of basic surgery.
The workshop was designed to provide comprehensive training for participants on essential surgical techniques, particularly for general practitioners wishing to deepen their basic surgical skills. The program ran from 07.00 to 17.30 WITA and consisted of several lecture sessions as well as hands-on practical training.
Topics presented included:
- Asepsis & Antisepsis Procedures
- Introduction to Minor Surgical Instruments, Suturing Techniques, and Knot-Tying for Open Wounds
- Excision Techniques for Benign Tumors
- Incision, Drainage, and Debridement
- Splinting Techniques for Extremities
- Circumcision
All participants took part in the series of activities with great enthusiasm, especially during the hands-on sessions that provided opportunities to learn and practice surgical techniques directly under instructor supervision. Through the implementation of this workshop, it is hoped that participants’ competencies in performing basic surgical procedures will continue to improve, and that the event will strengthen collaboration and enhance the quality of surgical education in Bali.
