Surgical Workshop and Symposium as Part of the 2025 Workshop Series

The Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University successfully conducted a Surgical Workshop and Symposium as part of the 2025 Workshop Series, which included the Graduation Ceremony, Gathering, Symposium, and Workshop. The event was held on Sunday, 21 December 2025, at Prime Plaza Hotel Sanur.

This activity served as both a scientific and practical forum aimed at strengthening clinical competencies and updating surgical knowledge for alumni and practicing general surgeons. It reflected the department’s commitment to continuous professional development and excellence in surgical education.

Carrying the theme “We Are Brothers, Building Udayana Surgery Together,” the event was designed to bridge theory and practice through evidence-based symposium sessions and highly relevant, hands-on workshops addressing daily clinical challenges.


Scientific Symposium

The symposium sessions covered current and strategic topics in surgery, including:

  • Non-Operative Therapy for Solid Tumors, discussing contemporary non-surgical approaches in the management of solid tumors.
  • Deep Vein Thrombosis, focusing on early detection, prevention, and management of deep vein thrombosis.

The discussions were conducted in an interactive manner, encouraging participants to integrate evidence-based medicine into real-world clinical practice.


Hands-On Workshops

One of the most anticipated components of the event was the series of practical, hands-on workshops that provided participants with direct clinical experience, including:

  • Advancing Wound Healing: The Role of Negative Pressure Wound Therapy, focusing on optimizing wound healing using NPWT technology.
  • Intestinal Anastomosis: Stapled vs. Hand-sewn, offering a comparative exploration of intestinal anastomosis techniques.
  • Management of Hemorrhoids with HAL–RAR, highlighting a modern surgical approach aimed at minimizing morbidity and accelerating patient recovery.

These workshops were delivered in an intensive format and guided by experienced faculty members, enabling participants to not only understand the underlying concepts but also enhance their technical skills through direct practice.
